RAACI, registered with this name at 1994, is de facto reformed Allergology soicety, created in Russia at the sixties years of XX century, and continues traditions of Russian allergology and clinical immunology. At the present time Association joins about 2500 members and 62 regional divisions in all regions of Russia. RAACI joins researchers and physicians and performs its activity in close cooperation with Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and Ministry of Health. Since 1994 RAACI organized 7 international Congresses “Modern problems of allergology, immunology and immunopharmacology”, 8 all-Russian conferences and symposia on actual problems of immunology and allergology. RAACI have 2 scientific & medical journals “Physiology and pathology of immune system” (issued monthly) and “Russian Allergy Journal” (issued bi-monthly).

In Russian Federation “Immunology and Allergology” is registered by Ministry of Health in the list of medical specialities as joined basic scientific-medical speciality, on which the high education of students and post-diplomal education of medical stuff are performed. The education system on immunology and allergology in Russia is corresponding to the international standards, it is continuously improved and corrected according to recent scientific and medical achievements.

RAACI general activity promotes the development of basic and clinical immunology and allergology in Russia, supports the international cooperation in this field and improves the special medical care for population.

One of the main directions of RAACI activity is the development and performing in alliance with Ministry of health the medical educational programs in allergology and clinical immunology, which are connected with improvement of education of students in medical institutes and on improvement of post-diploma and post-doctoral professional level of physicians. The important activity is the education programs for patients for their information about causes of allegic diseases, its prophylactics and modern methods of treatment.

The permanent activity of RAACI concerned with improvement of medical care quality is the development in alliance with Ministry of health the appropriate normative instructive documents. The international consent documents are used for creation of these instructions.

International cooperation is the great part of RAACI activity. RAACI is the exclusive representative of Russia in leading international communities of allergologists and clinical immunologists – World Allergy Organization (WAO) and European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) – as voting member society. Delegations of RAACI participate in all main international congresses and conferences, RAACI regularly organizes joint symposia with main scientific societies, leading researchers from Europe and USA traditionally participate in RAACI congresses.

The results of basic investigations in immunology and allergology rapidly became the foundation of development of the new medicals and diagnostic systems, immunomodulating compounds and vaccines. The example are the development of allergotropines – fundamentally new compounds for specific immunothreapy, which are based on original synthetic immunomodulator polyoxydonium conjugated with appropriate allergen. These allergotropines (allergovaccines) are succesfully used for treatment of different forms of allergy (primarily – pollen allergy) in Russia.
